Áislann Rann Na Feirste

For several years the people of Rann Na Feirste have been working together to create more facilities for their local community. The idea of the Áislann inspired locals to work together for the sake of the area and future generations. The community centre will host:

• Tea Room
• Resource Room/Public Hall
• Information Office and Administration
• Nursery and after school facility
• Two enterprise centres
• Heritage Room, Library, Study Area

It is believed that the centre will cost €1.4 million and it has been financed by Údarás na Gaeltachta, Pobal, The International Fund for Ireland agus an Roinn Gnóthaí Pobail, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta agus the Rann na Feirste Community.

The committee was formed in the year 1997 and have since collected a considerable amount of money by organising various events and co-working with certain organisations to obtain their goals. The main objective of the Áislann is to preserve the culture and heritage of Rann na Feirste and the committee realises the importance of this objective not only for this generation but also for future generations. The Áislann will be situated across from the national school in ‘Páirc Sheáin Néill’ which the committee bought from the Sheáin Néill family in June 1997. The work on the Áislann has commenced and although we received substantial grants from various government bodies we are faced with the continuous challenge to collect more money from the puclic to fund the next stages.
